When I read that I had mixed feelings too - thats a lot of pressure to put someone under before anyone has heard the album, I also like(my perception only) the intimacy of Darrens fanbase. I hope ,if he reads it, that he takes it with a pinch of salt, and doesn't feel he has something to prove. I also agree with Twizzle that if it is not well received, it will be hard to regain momentem and the record company may reconsider his contract - just a guess because I don't know how they think! but other artists are dropped after bad sales.
Of course I really really hope it selll millions and wins grammys etc

It's a bit of a dilemma really isn't it? On the one hand it could just be media hype pre-promo or it could be that there's a real buzz and a good vibe going around the music industry about his new album if it's been heard already by them. It certainly intensifies the pressure on Darren and it also puts great expectations into the minds of his fans. I hope he can deliver this one to everyone's satisfaction but most importantly I hope he's happy with whatever the outcome is [img]smile.gif[/img]

Okay I dont think Darren will ever have "global megastardom" nor do I think he aspires to achieve it. He gains that he loses so much more and thats his privacy included. Plus seriousely even at the height of greatness that SG reached there was never talk of "global megastardom".. I dont think anything has changed in that way. I mean I hope Darrens new album is brilliant but I dont think he will get critical acclaim and suddenly be launched into the sphere of superstardom. He will just be Darren Hayes with a damm fine album and people like JT will keep being in the magazines and spotlight.
